Efficient catalytic hydrogen generation by intermetallic platinum-lead nanostructures with highly tunable porous feature

The water-gas shift (WGS)reaction is an essential industrial reaction for upgrading hydrogen (H2)by removing carbon monoxide (CO),while highly efficient platinum (Pt)-based catalysts for WGS with simultaneously high activity and stability are still yet to be developed due to the poisoning issue during the reaction.Herein,we report on the porous PtPb peanut nanocrystals (porous PtPb PNCs)and porous PtPb octahedron nanocrystals (porous PtPb ONCs)with controllable ratios of Pt/Pb as extremely active and stable catalysts towards WGS reaction.It exhibits the composition-dependent activity with porous PtPb PNCs-40/ZnO being the most active for WGS to H2,16.9 times higher than that of the commercial Pt/C.The porous PtPb PNCs-40/ZnO also display outstanding durability with barely activity decay and negligible structure and composition changes after ten successive reaction cycles.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS)results reveal that the suitable binding energy of Pt 4f7/12 and the high ratio of Pt(0) to Pt(Ⅱ)in porous PtPb PNCs/Zn0 and porous PtPb ONCs/ZnO are crucial for the enhanced WGS activity. The CO stripping results indicate the optimized CO adsorption strength on the Pt surface ensure the excellent WGS activity and the outstanding durability.The present work demonstrates an important advance in tuning the porous metal nanomaterials as highly efficient and durable catalysts for catalysis, energy conversion and beyond. 展开更多

Based on gravity frequency shift effect predicted by general relativity theory, this study discusses an approach for determining the gravity potential(geopotential) difference between arbitrary two points P and Q by remote comparison of two precise optical clocks via optical fiber frequency transfer. After synchronization, by measuring the signal’s frequency shift based upon the comparison of bidirectional frequency signals from P and Q oscillators connected with two optical atomic clocks via remote optical fiber frequency transfer technique, the geopotential difference between the two points could be determined, and its accuracy depends on the stabilities of the optical clocks and the frequency transfer comparison technique. Due to the fact that the present stability of optical clocks achieves 1.6×10-18 and the present frequency transfer comparison via optical fiber provides stabilities as high as 10-19 level, this approach is prospective to determine geopotential difference with an equivalent accuracy of 1.5 cm. In addition, since points P and Q are quite arbitrary, this approach may provide an alternative way to determine the geopotential over a continent, and prospective potential to unify a regional height datum system. 展开更多

目的探讨轮值夜班中年女性护士的压力源,对其进行分析,并采取积极应对措施。方法选择2017年3—10月某三甲医院40周岁以上轮值夜班女性护士52例作为研究对象。采用症状自评量表(scl-90量化表),通过问卷调查的形式,进行心理状态评估分析,... 目的探讨轮值夜班中年女性护士的压力源,对其进行分析,并采取积极应对措施。方法选择2017年3—10月某三甲医院40周岁以上轮值夜班女性护士52例作为研究对象。采用症状自评量表(scl-90量化表),通过问卷调查的形式,进行心理状态评估分析,对护士进行心理卫生知识培训,使护士学会释放压力,全方位改善护士的身心健康状况;组织瑜伽训练班和各种休闲娱乐活动;进行心理疏导等相应对策进行干预。干预6个月后,进行问卷调查评估。结果干预前后护士心理健康scl-90评分的10项因子结果比较,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05);干预后与常模比较4项因子差异无统计学意义(P>0.05),6项因子差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。结论采取有效干预措施,可以使中年女性护士获得身心健康。 展开更多

The complete set of such eigenstates demands a spectrum density factor, for example, for the photons in the free space and electrons in the vacuum. From the derivation of the Casimir force without an arti?cial regulator we determine the explicit expression of the spectrum density factor for the photon ?eld to be an exponential function. The undetermined constant in the function is ?xed by the experimental data for the Lamb shift. With that, we predict that there exists a correction to the Casimir force. 展开更多

We have obtained the synthetic wavelength around 647.7 nm and expected when the clock laser is working at the synthetic wavelength, the systematic uncertainty due to the BBR shift can be suppressed at the level of 10–18 or even lower. 展开更多

Previous studies showed significant differences between expert architects and laypeople in aesthetic evaluations of buildings.However,studies exploring the aesthetic preferences of architecture students are lacking.The present study focused on a population of students and young architects to explore the aesthetic opinion shift within architectural careers.This study was intended to be a conceptual replication of the study of Brown and Gifford(2001)in a Central European context.A total of 109 participants(21-28 years old)evaluated 40 randomized pictures of houses to detect whether non-architecture undergraduates and fresh graduates of architecture would express different aesthetic preferences compared with their peers from the general population.The study also examined whether laypersons can predict the preferences of architects,and vice versa.Results show a trend that is contrary to the original research,that is,young architects and laypeople did not significantly differ in their aesthetic evaluations of the given stimuli.Analyses revealed high prediction ability in young architects and their non-architect peers.Moreover,the existing professional experience of young architects had no influence on the accuracy of their estimations.Findings suggest that the professional shift in architects'expertise is obscured at an early career stage,as revealed in their aesthetic preferences. 展开更多

It is theoretically found that the transition between a negative shift and a large positive one can be realized by altering the intensity of incident light. Moreover, by controlling the chemical potential of graphene and the incident angle of light, we can further control the tunable GH shift dynamically. Numerical simulations for GH shifts based on Gaussian waves are in good agreement with our theoretical calculations. 展开更多

Direct visualizations of air flow in the human upper airway using in-vitro models

A better understanding of airflow characteristics in the upper airway(UA) is crucial in investigating obstructive sleep apnea(OSA), particle sedimentation, drug delivery, and many biomedical problems. Direct visualization of air flow patterns in in-vitro models with realistic anatomical structures is a big challenge. In this study, we constructed unique half-side transparent physical models of normal UA based on realistic anatomical structures. A smoke-wire method was developed to visualize the air flow in UA models directly. The results revealed that the airflow through the pharynx was laminar but not turbulent under normal inspiration, which suggested that compared with turbulent models, a laminar model should be more suitable in numerical simulations. The flow predicted numerically using the laminar model was consistent with the observations in the physical models. The comparison of the velocity fields predicted numerically using the half-side and complete models confirmed that it was reasonable to investigate the flow behaviors in UA using the half-side model. Using the laminar model, we simulated the flow and evaluated the effects of UA narrowing caused by rostral fluid shift on pharyngeal resistance. The results suggested that fluid shift could play an important role in the formation of hypopnea or OSA during sleep. 展开更多

An improved frequency shift method is proposed to remove the flat earth phase in ATI-SAR ocean surface motion detection in this study. First, two conventional flat earth effect removal methods(i.e., the frequency shift method and the orbital parameter method) are introduced and compared. Then, two improvements to frequency shift method are suggested. In the first improvement, the phase diagram is divided into several sub-blocks to calculate the phase fringe frequency. In the second improvement, a function between the phase of land regions and position is fitted to correct the residual flat earth phase based on the phase of the land regions that tend toward zero in an along-track interferogram. It is found that the improved frequency shift method is greatly improved;and it agrees well with the orbital parameter method, and achieves similar accuracy. 展开更多

Self-heating effect in amorphous InGaZnO thin-film transistors remains a critical issue that degrades device performance and stability, hindering their wider applications. In this work, pulsed current–voltage analysis has been applied to explore the physics origin of self-heating induced degradation, where Joule heat is shortly accumulated by drain current and dissipated in repeated time cycles as a function of gate bias. Enhanced positive threshold voltage shift is observed at reduced heat dissipation time, higher drain current, and increased gate width. A physical picture of Joule heating assisted charge trapping process has been proposed and then verified with pulsed negative gate bias stressing scheme, which could evidently counteract the self-heating effect through the electric-field assisted detrapping process. As a result, this pulsed gate bias scheme with negative quiescent voltage could be used as a possible way to actively suppress self-heating related device degradation. 展开更多

Impacts of practical channel impairments on the downlink spectral efficiency of large-scale distributed antenna systems

Channel impairments are major limiting factors in the performance of large-scale antenna systems.In this paper,we analyze the impacts of practical channel impairments caused by pilot contamination,Doppler shift,and phase noise on the downlink spectral efficiency of large-scale distributed antenna systems(L-DASs)with maximum ratio transmission(MRT)and zero-forcing(ZF)beamforming,in which per user power normalization is considered.Using a joint channel model that allows study of the simultaneous impacts of these channel impairments,we derive accurate and tractable closed-form approximations for the ergodic achievable downlink rate,thereby enabling spectral efficiency analysis of L-DASs and an efficient evaluation of the impacts of the channel impairments.It is shown that channel impairments reduce the downlink spectral efficiency and have a significant impact on ZF beamforming.The asymptotic user rate limit is also determined,from which we analyze the asymptotic performance of L-DASs with channel impairments.The analytical results show that MRT and ZF beamforming achieve the same asymptotic performance limit even with channel impairments.It is also found that the use of a large-scale antenna array at the base station sides can weaken the impacts of channel impairments. 展开更多
