Cluster structure prediction via CALYPSO method

Cluster science as a bridge linking atomic molecular physics and condensed matter inspired the nanomaterials development in the past decades, ranging from the single-atom catalysis to ligand-protected noble metal clusters. The corresponding studies not only have been restricted to the search for the geometrical structures of clusters, but also have promoted the development of cluster-assembled materials as the building blocks. The CALYPSO cluster prediction method combined with other computational techniques have significantly stimulated the development of the cluster-based nanomaterials. In this review, we will summarize some good cases of cluster structure by CALYPSO method, which have also been successfully identified by the photoelectron spectra experiments. Beginning with the alkali-metal clusters, which serve as benchmarks, a series of studies are performed on the size-dependent elemental clusters which possess relatively high stability and interesting chemical physical properties. Special attentions are paid to the boron-based clusters because of their promising applications. The NbSi12 and BeB16 clusters, for example, are two classic representatives of the silicon-and boron-based clusters, which can be viewed as building blocks of nanotubes and borophene. This review offers a detailed description of the structural evolutions and electronic properties of medium-sized pure and doped clusters, which will advance fundamental knowledge of cluster-based nanomaterials and provide valuable information for further theoretical and experimental studies. 展开更多

The significance of the work is determined by the need to develop a cluster theory of the liquid state of a substance in order to more deeply substantiate the viscosity, which is still expressed by empirical parameters within the framework of ideal ideas about the stratified flow of a liquid. According to the reference data on the dynamic viscosity of the melts for chlorides of the first group of the Periodic System, the approximating dependences in the form of cluster-associate and Frenkel’s models were constructed at various temperatures. The first model is based on taking into account the share of particles that cannot overcome the thermal melting barrier and thus serve to form virtual clusters and associates while preserving the structural motifs of the solid phase. In the framework of the cluster-associate viscosity model developed by the authors, these formations determine the melt viscosity and serve as flow units to which the energy of fluid motion is applied. The Frenkel’s model allows us to estimate the activation energy of fluidity. Calculations show that by comparing this energy with the degree of cluster association obtained in the framework of the cluster-associate model, a fairly close linear correlation is obtained, and the proportionality coefficient has the meaning of the activation energy per cluster. This energy does not go beyond the van der Waals energy of the unsaturated intermolecular bond characteristic of the interaction of particles in a liquid. This confirms the earlier established by the authors a similar pattern for melts of simple substances, based on the understanding of fluidity as a consequence of the destruction of cluster associates while preserving the clusters themselves. 展开更多

Polyoxometalate (POM) catalysts with different trivalent hetero ions (Mn+ = Fe3+, Al3+, and Cr3+) were prepared by incipient wetness impregnation method and supported on different zeolites namely, NaY, ZSM-5 and Mordenite. The intended catalysts samples were distinguished by X-ray diffraction, FTIR and surface texture measurements. The data given disintegration in the crystallinity of zeolite structure, enlarge in particle size and new phases of metal oxides Al2(MoO4)3 and Fe2(MoO4)3 were exposed by XRD and FTIR techniques. These phases caused widening of pores of the employed zeolites and change of the surface texture. The physical changes indicate the considerable interaction of polyoxomolybdate with the zeolite structure. The assessment of the catalytic activity was thorough by applied the photocatalytic degradation of direct blue 1 dye (DB1) in existence of H2O2 as a green oxidant. The catalytic activity of Mn+Mo-ZSM-5 sample is higher than that of Mn+Mo-Y or Mn+Mo-Mord. 展开更多

However, due to its sensitivity to initial partition, outliers, noise and other factors, the clustering results in data analysis, image segmentation and other fields are unstable and weak in robustness. Based on the fast global K-means clustering algorithm, this paper proposed an improved K-means clustering algorithm. Through the neighborhood filtering mechanism, the points in the neighborhood of the selected initial clustering center have not participated in the selection of the next initial clustering center, which can effectively reduce the randomness of initial partition and improve the efficiency of initial partition. Mahalanobis distance was used in the clustering process to better consider the global nature of data. Compared with the traditional clustering algorithm and other optimization algorithms, the results of real data set testing are significantly improved. 展开更多

The atomic scale modeling is carried on by both Molecular Dynamics and Metropolis Monte Carlo. This represents a huge series of simulations (175 cases) to which further calculations are added by spot when finer tuning of the parameters is necessary. Analyzing the results is a major task which is still in progress. This way, not only a realistic range of sizes is covered, but also the whole range of compositions and the temperature range relevant to the solid and the liquid states. 展开更多

Tracking control is a very challenging problem in the networked control system(NCS), especially for the process with blurred mechanism and where only input-output data are available. This paper has proposed a data-based design approach for the networked tracking control system(NTCS). The method utilizes the input-output data of the controlled process to establish a predictive model with the help of fuzzy cluster modelling(FCM)technology. Then, the deduced error and error change in the future are treated as inputs of a fuzzy sliding mode controller(FSMC) to obtain a string of future control actions. These candidate control actions in the controller side are delivered to the plant side. Thus, the network induced time delays are compensated by selecting appropriate control action. Here, a series of starburst triphenylamine(WD8) derivatives for dye-sensitized solar cells(DSSCs) applications have been designed. The frontier molecular orbitals(FMOs) property, absorption spectra, and charge transfer rate property of WD8 and its derivatives were simulated. We also evaluated the FMOs energies and absorption spectra of WD8 and its derivatives with the TiO2 cluster. The simulation results show that the phenothiazine-triphenylamine and 2-cyanoacetic acid groups in the ortho-position will increase the HOMO energy, decrease the LUMO energy, and narrow the HOMO-LUMO gap of WD8. The charge injection from WD8 and its derivatives to TiO2 should be more favorable. The phenothiazine-triphenylamine and 2-cyanoacetic acid groups in the ortho-position will decrease the electron and hole injection barriers of WD8. The phenothiazinetriphenylamine and 2-cyanoacetic acid groups in the ortho-position will improve the absorption spectra properties of WD8. The absorption spectra of WD8 and its derivatives with the TiO2 cluster would have a red shift. The phenothiazine-triphenylamine and 2-cyanoacetic acid groups in the ortho-position will increase the charge transfer property of WD8. 展开更多

Genetic dissection of root morphological traits as related to potassium use efficiency in rapeseed under two contrasting potassium levels by hydroponics

To reveal the genetic basis of potassium use efficiency(KUE) in rapeseed, root morphology(RM), biomass and KUE-related traits were measured in a recombinant inbred line population with 175 F7 lines that were subjected to high-potassium(HK) and low-potassium(LK) treatments by hydroponics. A total of 109 significant QTLs were identified to be associated with the examined traits. Sixty-one of these QTLs were integrated into nine stable QTLs. The higher heritability for RM and biomass traits and lower heritability for KUE-related traits, as well as nine stable QTLs for RM traits and only two for KUE-related traits,suggested that regulating RM traits would be more effective than selecting KUE traits directly to improve KUE by markerassisted selection. Furthermore, the integration of stable QTLs identified in the HK, LK, high-nitrogen(HN) and low-nitrogen(LN) conditions gave 10 QTL clusters. Seven of these clusters were classified into major QTLs that explained 7.4%–23.7% of the total phenotypic variation. Five of the major QTL clusters were detected under all of the treated conditions, and four clusters were specifically detected under the LK and LN conditions. These common and specific QTL clusters may be useful for the simultaneous improvement of multiple traits by marker-assisted selection. 展开更多

The East China coast is one major cyclogenesis region of extratropical cyclones (ETCs) in boreal winter. In this study, the climatological characteristics of winter ETCs passing over the coastal water of China are analyzed by using clustering and composite analysis. Automated cyclone detection and tracking algorithm are used to identify the ETCs, which are further classified into subgroups according to their trajectory features by using the probabilistic clustering algorithm. Six distinct types of straight moving or recurving trajectories with different climatological characteristics are identified in the clustering analysis. Accordingly, the composite analyses also present six distinct synoptic patterns corresponding to cyclogenesis as well as the impact of ETCs on terrestrial precipitation. The spatio-temporal characteristics of winter ETCs’ origination, movement, and impact are revealed by the clustering and composite analyses. 展开更多

[Objectives] This study aimed to establish HPLC fingerprint and conduct cluster analysis and principle component analysis for Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride. [Methods] Using the HPLC method, the determination was performed on XSelect&#x00AE;HSS T3-C18 column with mobile phase of acetonitrile-0.5% acetic acid solution(gradient elution) at the flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. The detection wavelength was 360 nm. The column temperature was 25℃. The sample size was 10 μL. With peak of hesperidin as the reference, HPLC fingerprints of 10 batches of Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride were determined. The similarity of the 10 batches of samples was evaluated by Similarity Evaluation System for Chromatographic Fingerprint of TCM(2012 edition) to determine the common peaks. Cluster analysis and principal component analysis were performed by using SPSS 17.0 statistical software. [Results] The HPLC fingerprints of the 10 batches of medicinal materials had total 11 common peaks, and the similarity was 0.919-1.000, indicating that the chemical composition of the 10 batches of medicinal materials was consistent. There were 11 common components in the 10 batches of medicinal materials, but their contents were different. When the Euclidean distance was 20, the 10 batches of samples were divided into two categories, S4 in the first category, and the others in the second one. When the Euclidean distance was 5, the second category could be further divided into two sub-categories, S1 and S10 in one sub-category, and S2, S3, S5, S6, S7, S8 and S9 in the other one. The principle component analysis showed that cumulative contribution rate of the two main component factors was 92.797%, and the comprehensive score of S7 was the highest with the best quality. [Conclusions] The results of HPLC fingerprinting, cluster analysis and principle component analysis can provide reference for the quality control of Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride. 展开更多
