[Objective] The paper was to investigate effects of pelleted total mixed ration on production performance and serum biochemical index of growing Hainan black goats.[Method] Twenty-four growing Hainan black goats with the same genetic backgrounds and similar initial weight of(10.05±0.049) kg were randomly assigned into two treatments, and supplied with Juncao + concentrate(control group), pelleted total mixed ration(experimental group), respectively. The trial lasted 50 d.[Result] The final weight, daily gain and feed intake of experimental group were significantly higher than those of control group(P<0.05), but the feed/gain ratio of experimental group was markedly lower than that of control group(P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the gross profit of experimental group significantly increased( P <0.05).[Conclusion] Pelleted total mixed ration led to better production performance of growing Hainan black goat. 展开更多

An understanding of the nutrient utilization characteristics of pigs with different feed efficiencies(FEs) will help us to develop new strategies to reduce the costs of pig production.In this study,we selected pigs with a range of FEs according to two feed conversion ratio models: the feed intake(FI) model,where pigs had the same average daily gains(ADGs) but different FIs,and the ADG model,where pigs had the same FIs but different ADGs.High-FE pigs had a higher abundance of short chain fatty acid(SCFA)-producing bacteria(Lachnospiraceae,Clostridiaceae1,and Coriobacteriaceae) in their caecum in the FI model,and low-FE pigs had a higher abundance of two families(BacteroidalesS247group and Peptococcaceae) and two genera(Anaerotruncus and CandidatusSoleaferrea) in both models.By contrast,high-FE pigs had more goblet cells and higher m RNA expression of insulin-like growth factor 1(IGF-1) in the FI model,and higher mRNA expression of occludin but lower expressions of adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase(AMPK)-α2 and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1 alpha(PGC1α) in the ADG model.These findings suggest that the presence of SCFA-producing bacteria in the caecum and increased muscular growth may contribute to the high FE of low-FI pigs,while improved intestinal functions and decreased mitochondrial activity in the skeletal muscle are related to the high FE of high-ADG pigs. 展开更多

The seasonal and daily variation of CH4 emissions was investigated, and the correlation of CH4 fluxes with the environmental impact factors were discussed to understand the activity of CH4 flux and the effects of environmental factors including air temperature, soil temperature, photosynthetic photon flux density(PPFD), and rainfall on a wetland ecosystem. The results indicated that CH4 flux was significantly correlated with air temperature and photosynthetic photon flux density(PPFD), which may be the primary driver of controlling peatland CH4 flux. 展开更多

The views of local people on climate change along different ecological regions are relatively unexplored in Nepal. This study was conducted in 13 villages in central Nepal at different altitudes to document the views of small holder farmers and compare their perception with trends of climatic variables, finger millet yield, natural disasters, plant phenology(flowering and fruiting), status of forest and wild life, as well as the spread of diseases and pests. Analysis on the climatic data of stations for 36-41 years between 1975 and 2016 showed significant increases in the minimum temperature in lower tropical climatic region(<500 m), upper tropical to subtropical climatic region(500-2000 m) and temperate climatic region(2000-3000 m) by 0.01, 0.026 and 0.054℃/year, respectively, and an increase of maximum temperature by 0.008, 0.018, and 0.019℃/year, respectively. Rainfall showed a strongly significant decreasing trend in all elevation regions. This result matches with the views of respondents except 38% respondent from temperate climatic region. People from the temperate climatic region also mentioned that current onset of snowfall is delayed but amount of snowfall remained the same. From the documented records, except events of wild fire, frequency of natural disasters events have increased in the recent years, which was in harmony with the views of local people. Multi-linear regression analysis showed that contribution of climatic variables on finger millet yield in lower tropical climatic region and upper tropical to subtropical regions was 23% and 57.3%, respectively, which was supported by increasing trend on average growing degree day(GDD) temperature at the rate of 0.01℃ in upper tropical to subtropical region and 0.007℃ in lower tropical climatic region yearly. Finger millet yield has been increasing at the rate of 7.39 and 36.9 kg/ha yearly in lower tropical climatic region and upper tropical to subtropical climatic region, respectively. With the Fokienia hodginsii forest in Qishan National Forest Park as the object of study, this study observed the diurnal variation of concentrations of atmospheric aerosol particles inside and outside the forest, collected the data of microclimate factors, and analyzed their correlation with the particle concentration. The results showed that the diurnal variation curves of the particle concentration of the forest and the forest edge had two peaks and two troughs". There were two peaks throughout the day at 13:00 and 19:00 or 17:00 as well as two troughs at 7:00-9:00 and 15:00 or 17:00. The atmospheric aerosol particle in the forest was mainly fine particles, while the forest edge was dominated by coarse particles. For the forest and the forest edge, the diurnal variation trends of various atmospheric aerosol particles were similar. The particle concentration was positively correlated with temperature, relative humidity, and il umination intensity and negatively correlated with wind speed, and the particle concentration outside the forest was significantly negatively correlated with the wind speed. 展开更多

The red swamp crayfish(Procambarus clarkii)is a species from the northeast of Mexico and the central south of the United States(Louisiana),actually is the dominant macroinvertebrate in several countries.It was introduced to several countries,generally for gastronomic reasons or to repopulate destroyed areas by a disease.While the first introduction of this species into the world is well-documented,little is known about its pathways of invasion and the reason for its rapid spread in several countries.P.clarkii is an aggressive crustacean that multiplies very fast and adapts to features of the invaded location.Adults of the species can disperse up to 1.6 km on land.Also,they dig deep holes which allows them to establish easily in wetlands and adjacent waterbodies that are hydrologically disconnected.This study takes place in the Gharb area(northwestern of Morocco)where several carcasses of P.clarkii have been found in different places.In the present study,it is a question of understanding how this species was introduced in this area,to establish a map of propagation of the species,and to evaluate the damage that it would have caused in the rice growing of Gharb.In Morocco,it was first sighted in the Gharb area in 2008 in the commune of Sidi Allal Tazi.Following this discovery,possible ways of the species introduction and the dispersal modes were explored that P.clarkii could use to invade the Gharb area.The results of this study can be used by natural resource managers,rice farmers,fishermen and the local population,to help them to locate the spread of P.clarkii,to identify vectors that move P.clarkii across political boundaries and illustrate the importance of limiting and prohibiting the movement of this invasive species across boundaries or into new ecosystems. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Magnetically controlled growing rods(MCGR) are a novel treatment option for early onset scoliosis(EOS). Although the complication profile with MCGR use has been reviewed, these reviews do not take into account important implants modifications, termed iterations, that were made due to early on postoperative complications is not well reported or understood.AIM To assess the effect of MCGR implant iterations on post-operative complications in EOS.METHODS A systematic review was performed to identify studies investigating MCGR specifically for the treatment of EOS, refined to those reporting the implant iteration, specifically the incorporation of the keeper plate to the implant design.Articles with mixed implant iteration usage were excluded. Complications following surgery were recorded as well as potential risk factors and compared between implant cohorts.RESULTS Although 20 articles were identified for inclusion, 5 included mixed implant iteration leaving a total of 271 patients identified through 15 clinical studies thatmet inclusion criteria. The average follow-up was 25.4-mo. Pre-keeper plate implants were utilized in 3 studies with a total of 49 patients. Overall, 115(42.4%)post-operative complications were identified, with 87% defined as major. The addition of the keeper plate significantly decreased the rate of post-operative complications per study(35.7% vs 80.6%, P = 0.036), and the rate of distraction failure(8.1% vs 40.8%, P = 0.02). Unplanned reoperation occurred in 69(26.7%)patients but was not different between implant iteration cohorts(25.5% without keeper plate vs 27.1% with keeper plate, P = 0.92).CONCLUSION MCGR for EOS has a cumulative complication rate of 42.4% but this is significantly reduced to 35.7% when reviewing only keeper-plate enabled implants. However, 25% of published articles included mixed implant iterations.Future studies should discern between implants iterations when reporting on the usage of MCGR for EOS. 展开更多

【目的】烟苗素质是烟叶优质丰产的基础,直接影响移栽后烟株田间生长发育、产质量及品质,本文为培育出齐、壮、健、旺、抗逆性强的烟苗,寻找获得优质烟叶的新途径。【方法】以云烟99为材料,采用3种不同光质的LED灯管作为光源,同时设置3... 【目的】烟苗素质是烟叶优质丰产的基础,直接影响移栽后烟株田间生长发育、产质量及品质,本文为培育出齐、壮、健、旺、抗逆性强的烟苗,寻找获得优质烟叶的新途径。【方法】以云烟99为材料,采用3种不同光质的LED灯管作为光源,同时设置3个水平GA3浓度,通过温室育苗和大田试验,研究光照与赤霉素(GA3)处理的不同素质的烟苗移栽到大田后其烟叶生长发育及产、质量的变化。【结果】补充光照和喷施适宜浓度的GA3能有效增加叶片SPAD值,提高烟苗光合作用,同时增强烟苗根系活力,增加营养物质吸收,促进烟苗生长。将补充光照和喷施GA3处理的烟苗移栽到大田,团棵期至现蕾期长势增强,田间长相整齐一致,烟叶化学品质有所提升,各处理产量、均价、产值、中上等烟比例、上等烟比例以及单叶重均呈增加趋势,经济性状得以增加。其中以补充蓝光和喷施50 mg/L GA3组合处理最佳。【结论】光照和GA3处理烤烟不仅能够促进烟苗生长,而且能够提高烟叶生长后期的内在品质及经济效益,为洛南烟区提高烟苗素质和烤烟产质量提供了简单可行的技术手段。 展开更多

Background: Determination of the endogenous loss of fat(ELF) is used to adjust for the estimation of true total tract digestibility(TTTD) of fat in diets and ingredients.Any factor which affected ELF may further affect the digestibility of fat,including sources and concentrations of fat and fiber in the diet.There are some reports of determining the ELF using regression methods based on different levels of fat intake,while reports on effects of dietary fiber content and different fiber-rich ingredients in pig diets on ELF are very limited.Therefore,the objective of this study was to determine the effects of dietary fiber content and different fiber-rich ingredients on endogenous losses of fat and fatty acids at the end of ileum and throughout the entire intestinal tract in growing pigs.Methods: In Exp.1,the effect of fiber content on endogenous loss of fat was determined using six growing pigs(Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire;27.6 ± 2.4 kg),fitted with a T-cannula at the end of ileum.The experimental design was a 6 × 6 complete Latin square design with six periods of feeding and six diets.The six experimental fat-free diets were formulated to include graded levels of neutral detergent fiber(NDF)(0,40,80,120,160 and 200 g/kg) and soybean hull(SH) was the only fiber source,providing 0,75,150,225,300 and 375 g/kg,respectively.Chromic oxide was included at4 g/kg in all diets as an indigestible marker.In Exp.2,six crossbred growing barrows(27.6 ± 1.6 kg) were used and the experimental design was the same as for Exp.1.The six fat-free diets were formulated to include six common fiber-rich ingredients and the concentration of NDF was 100 g/kg.The six fiber-rich ingredients were defatted rice bran(DRB),sugar beet pulp(SBP),rice hull(RH),corn germ meal(CGM),SH and wheat bran(WB) and they were fed at represented250,270,145,250,170 and 280 g/kg in the diet,respectively.Results: In Exp.1,the endogenous loss of fatty acids profile did not change as dietary NDF increased in growing pigs.The endogenous losses of fat,C16:0,C18: 展开更多

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the intergeneric transfer of vancomycin resistance gene vanA between probiotic enterococci in the fermentation progress of soybean meal and in the digestive tract of growing pigs.One vanA genotype vancomycin resistant E.faecium strain,Efm4,and one chloramphenicol-resistant E.faecalis strain,Efs2,were isolated from twenty-nine probiotic basis feed material/additive samples.For in vitro conjugation,Efm4 and Efs2 were used as starter to ferment soybean meal.For in vivo conjugation,thirty growing pigs were randomly assigned to five groups(n = 6),treated with a basic diet,or supplemented with 10% fermented soybean meal,1% Efm4,5% Efs2 or a combination of 1% Efm4 + 5% Efs2 for 7 d,respectively.Fecal samples of pigs in each group were collected daily for the isolation and dynamic analysis of Efm4,Efs2 and transconjugants.The sequence types(STs) of Efm4,Efs2 and transconjugants were analyzed by multilocus sequence typing(MLST).The vanA harboring plasmid in Efm4 and transconjugants was analyzed by S1-pulsed field gel electrophoresis(PFGE)and further verified by multiple alignments.Results: The results showed that,in FSBM,transconjugants were detected 1 h after the fermentation,with a conjugation frequency of ~ 10^-3 transconjugants/recipient.Transconjugants proliferated with Efm4 and Efs2 in the first 8 h and maintained steadily for 10 d till the end of the experiment.Additionally,in vivo experiment showed that transcojugants were recovered in one of six pigs in both FSBM and Efm4 + Efs2 groups,with conjugation frequency of ~ 10^-5 and ~ 10^-4,respectively.MLST revealed the ST of Efm4,Efs2 and transconjugants was ST1014,ST69 and ST69,respectively.S1-PFGE confirmed the existence of the vanA-harboring,142,988-bp plasmid,which was also a multi-drug resistant plasmid containing Tn1546-like transposon.Conclusions: The findings revealed the potential safety hazard existing in the commercial probiotic enterococci in China,because the horizontal transfer from farm to fork could 展开更多

In this paper, the electrical activities and Hamilton energy of neuron are investigated when external mixed signals(i.e., the periodic stimulus current and the periodic electromagnetic field) are imposed on the neuron under the electromagnetic induction. As a result, the Hamilton energy is much dependent on the mode transition, the multiple electric activity modes and the numerical analysis of Hamilton energy are more complicated under various parameters. When the periodic high-low frequency electromagnetic radiation is imposed in neuron, it is found that the electrical activities are more complex, and the changing of energy is obvious. In addition, the response of electrical activity and Hamilton energy is much dependent on the changing of amplitude A, B when the external high-low frequency signal is imposed on the neuron, meanwhile, the energy of bursting state is lower than the one of spiking state. BACKGROUND Growing pains is the most common cause of musculoskeletal pain in early childhood and was first described in 1823 by French physician Marcel Duchamp. Although it has been researched extensively, the etiology is still unknown. Several theories have been proposed throughout the years. AIM Analyze the available scientific literature to provide an update on the latest evidence on the etiology. METHODS According to the guidelines of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses, the scientific literature on the etiology of growing pains was systematically reviewed using the following inclusion criteria: studies of any level of evidence reporting clinical or preclinical results and dealing with the etiology of growing pains. The medical electronic databases PubMed and Web of Science were searched by two independent authors on October 20, 2018. The search string used was “(growing pains OR benign nocturnal limb pains OR musculoskeletal pains) AND (etiology OR pathogenesis) AND (pediatrics)”. RESULTS A total of 32 articles were included. The etiology of growing pains still remains poorly understood. Many theories have been proposed, but none of them are decisive. A lower pain threshold has been found among patients suffering from growing pains in comparison to healthy controls. Furthermore, evidence suggests an association between growing pains and reduced bone strength in young patients, although this finding still remains controversial. Changes in the vascular perfusion pattern have also been studied. However, the etiology of growing pains does not seem related to a vascular component. The anatomical/mechanical theory has not been supported, but the role of vitamin D deficiency has been investigated many times. Strong recent evidence indicates a genetic susceptibility in the pathogenesis of growing pains. Furthermore, psychological factors also seem to play a strong role in the onset. CONCLUSION The scientific literature about the etiology of growing pains presents heterogeneity 展开更多
