The depression-like behavior phenotype,neurogenesis in the dentate gyrus and miR-124 expression in the hippocampus are the focus of current research on the pathogenesis of depression and antidepressant therapy.The present study aimed to clarify the dynamic changes of depression-like behavior,dentate gyrus neurogenesis and hippocampal miR-124 expression during depression induced by chronic stress to reveal pathological features at different stages of depression and to further provide insight into depression treatment.Chronic unpredictable mild stress depression models were established by exposing Sprague-Dawley rats to various mild stressors,including white noise,thermal swimming,stroboscopic illumination,soiled cages,pairing with three other stressed animals,cold swimming,tail pinch,restraint and water and food deprivation.Chronic unpredictable mild stress model rats underwent dynamic observation from 1 to 8 weeks and were compared with a control group(normal feeding without any stressors).To observe changes in the depression-like behavior phenotype during chronic unpredictable mild stress-induced depression,a sucrose preference test was used to evaluate the degree of anhedonia.An open-field test was used to evaluate locomotor activity and anxiety status.Compared with the control group,chronic unpredictable mild stress rats lost weight but did not have a depression-like behavioral phenotype at 1-4 weeks.Chronic unpredictable mild stress rats presented decreased sucrose preference and locomotor activity at 5-8 weeks.In addition,chronic unpredictable mild stress rats did not have significant anxiety-like behavior during 1-8 weeks of modeling.To observe neurogenesis dysfunctions and changes in neuronal number in the dentate gyrus during chronic unpredictable mild stress-induced depression,markers(DCX and DCX/BrdU)of neural proliferation and differentiation and the neuronal marker NeuN were assessed by immunofluorescence.Compared with the control group,neurogenesis and the neuronal number in the dentate gyrus did not 展开更多

This study examines the behavior of trace- and rare-earth elements (REE) in different hydrothermal alteration facies (silicic, advanced argillic and argillic) of Cijulang high-sulfidation epithermal gold deposit, West Java, Indonesia. The results of the study indicate that remarkable differences in the behavior of trace elements and REE are observed in the studied alteration facies. All REE in the silicic facies are strongly depleted. In advanced argillic facies, Heavy rare-earth elements (HREE) are strongly depleted whereas light rare earth elements (LREE) are quite enriched. REE concentrations in the argillic facies show little or no variation with respect to fresh rock counterparts. A strong depletion of REE in the silicic facies is likely to be favored by the highly acidic nature of the hydrothermal fluids, the abundance of complexing ions such as Cl ˉ, F ˉ, and in the hydrothermal solutions and the absence of the secondary minerals that can fix the REE in their crystal structures. An apparent immobility of LREE in advanced argillic facies is possibly due to the presence of alunite. The immobility of REE in the argillic facies suggests the higher pH of the fluids, the lower water/rock ratios and the presence of the phyllosilicates minerals. - 展开更多

The definition of the thixotropy is a decrease in viscosity with time in shear and a subsequent recovery of viscosity after the shear deformation is removed.We used therefore start-up experiments with constant shear rates and can speak consequently of shear stress instead of viscosity.The shear stress increases sharply at the beginning of the stress growth experiment,passes an overshoot and begins to decrease up to the steady state shear stress.We can assume that a stress growth curve with an overshoot points out to thixotropic behavior.After the steady state shear stress is reached,the shear deformation is stopped,and the stress relaxation begins.It is to be expected that the shear stress will recover after the stress relaxation.Systems with shear thinning and plastic flow behavior were examined.The thixotropy is discussed in relation to the flow behavior.Stress growth experiments were performed with shear rates from the first Newtonian region and from the shear thinning region of the systems with shear thinning flow behavior.Stress start-up experiments were carrying out with shear rates from the first and second yield stress regions and from the transition section of a system with plastic flow behavior. 展开更多

Sonicating bees demonstrate flexible pollen extraction without instrumental learning

Pollen collection is necessary for bee survival and important for flowering plant reproduction, yet if and how pollen extraction motor routines are modified with experience is largely unknown. Here, we used an automated reward and monitoring system to evaluate modification in a common pollen-extraction routine, floral sonication. Through a series of laboratory experiments with the bumblebee, Bombus impatiens, we examined whether variation in sonication frequency and acceleration is due to instrumental learning based on rewards, a fixed behavioral response to rewards, and/or a mechanical constraint. We first investigated whether bees could learn to adjust their sonication frequency in response to pollen rewards given only for specified frequency ranges and found no evidenee of instrumental learning. However, we found that absenee versus receipt of a pollen reward did lead to a predictable behavioral resp on se, which depe nded on bee size. Fin ally, we found some evide nee of mechanical con straints, in that flower mass affected sonication acceleration (but not frequency) through an interaction with bee size. In generalz larger bees showed more flexibility in sonication frequency and acceleration, potentially reflecting a size-based constraint on the range over which smaller bees can modify frequency and accelerati on. Overall our results show that although bees did not display instrumental learning of sonication frequency, their sonication motor routine is nevertheless flexible. 展开更多

The effect of complete social deprivation in early postnatal ontogenesis on adult behavior in Wag/Rij rats with a genetic predisposition to the development of absence epilepsy was studied. From the 2nd to the 8th day of life, a 3-hour daily isolation of the pups from the mother and siblings was performed, the control animals were handled. In adulthood, offspring behavior was tested in an elevated plus-maze, an open field, and for an ability to learn the conditioned reflex of active avoidance. In isolated earlier rats, an increase in emotional reactivity, exploratory behavior in a potentially dangerous space, the speed of learning a conditioned reflex with negative painful reinforcement, and a disturbance of the formation of a defensive reaction were revealed. It is assumed that high emotional reactivity creates the prerequisites for the development of absence epilepsy. 展开更多

The demand for specific earth retaining wall method is increasing, along with the advancement and overcrowding of underground space use, such as the?presence of close structures, in an urban area. The method is named stepped-twin?retaining wall. The feature of this method is to have inner and outer retaining walls and excavate the ground by two-step in order to minimize the effect of the excavation on neighboring existing structures. However, the design of the earth retaining wall is currently carried out by individual engineers based on their own experience. Therefore, it is crucial that the standard method of retaining wall using a two-step construction is established. As the first step toward the standardization, evaluation of factors affecting the ground behavior of the earth retaining wall was carried out. In particular, we picked up four major considerable factors, which are horizontal distance between the outer and inner walls, depth of outer wall embedment, mechanical properties of soil. The evaluation was done by using two dimensional FEM analysis and the results were summarized to make clear the effect of each factor. 展开更多

Purpose.This study aimed to examine the levels and correlates of 24-h movement behaviors(i.e.,physical activity,sedentary time,and sleep),and different patterns of these behaviors in a nationally representative sample of South Koreans aged 12 years and older.This study also aimed to examine the sociodemographic correlates of 24?h movement behaviors stratified by age groups.Methods.Self-reported,repeated cross-sectional data from 10,708 participants in the 2014 and 2015 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination surveys were used.Key variables included moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity,muscular strengthening exercises,walking,active transportation,sedentary time,and sleep.Sociodemographic variables included age,sex,household income,area of residence,and education level.Descriptive statistics by sex and age as well as general linear models by age group were performed.Results.The proportions of individuals meeting the moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity,muscular strengthening exercises,and sleep guidelines were,respectively,21.6%,22.1%,and 32.5%in male youth;6.9%,4.5%,and 22.8%in female youth;55.5%,30.8%,and 54.0%in male adults;48.8%,14.4%,and 57.6%in female adults;44.0%,30.6%,and 45.5%in male older adults;and 29.5%,8.9%,and 37.3%in female older adults.The proportions of individuals showing the most ideal combinations of 24-h movement behaviors were only 3.2%in youth,0.4%in adults,and 0 in older adults.Universally,older age,female sex,or living in metro Seoul were associated with unfavorable patterns of 24-h movement behaviors across different age groups.However,the associations of income and education with movement behaviors were mixed across age groups.Conclusion.Overall,the proportion of South Koreans with a healthy 24-h movement behavior pattern is low.The sociodemographic correlates of different types of 24-h movement behaviors should be considered when designing targeted interventions for the promotion of healthy active living for South Koreans. 展开更多

This present study applied gas tungsten arc welding in order to join AISI 304 and AISI 201 stainless steels.The objective was to find the optimum welding condition that gave a weld bead in accordance with DIN EN ISO 25817 quality level B,pitting corrosion potential of the weld metal of not less than that of the AISI 304 base metal and a ratio of delta-ferrite in austenite matrix of the weld metal of not lower than 3%.Such a ratio is a criterion widely accepted to protect the weld metal from solidification cracking.At the welding current of 75 A and by using pure argon as a shielding gas 0 to 8 vol.%and applying a welding speed in the range of 2e3.5mm·s^-1 was found to give a complete weld bead with an increased depthper-width ratio(promote weldability).For welding speed in the range of 3 and 3.5mmmm·s^-1(promote corrosion resistance).Increasing the welding speed in such a range decreased the amount of delta-ferrite in the austenite matrix,and increased the pitting corrosion potential of the weld metal to be 302 mVSCE.This value was still lower than the pitting corrosion potential of the AISI 304 base metal.Mixing nitrogen in argon shielding gas increased the nitrogen content in the weld.The optimum condition was found when using a welding speed of 3mm·s^-1 and mixing 1 vol.%of nitrogen in the argon shielding gas(promote weldability and corrosion resistance).Pitted areas after potentiodynamic test were observed in the austenite in which its Cr content was relatively low. 展开更多

This paper develops a game-theoretic spatial model featuring consumer heterogeneity in online vs. offline retailers* spatial competition. We find that consumers1 browse-and-switch behavior intensifies the competition because both offline and online retailers' price and profit decline when the behavior occurs, but it is not necessarily a threat to offline retailers especially when the product relates more closely to experience. We consider six equilibrium seenarios for different combi nations of consumer behaviors when considering a hybrid retailer. The analysis taking consumer heterogeneity into consideration shows that the hybrid retailer operating both online and offline is not always the winner. Particularly, the business opportunity for the offline retailer lies in consumersz willingness to pay in store, and whether the retailer launches an online store depends on the type of products and services provided. 展开更多

The accuracy and effi ciency of the modelling techniques utilized to model the nonlinear behavior of structural components is a signifi cant issue in earthquake engineering. In this study, the suffi ciency of three diff erent modelling techniques that can be employed to simulate the structural behavior of columns is investigated. A fi ber-based fi nite length plastic hinge (FB-FLPH) model is calibrated in this study. In order to calibrate the FB-FLPH model, a novel database of the cyclic behavior of hollow steel columns under simultaneous axial and lateral loading cycles with varying amplitudes is used. By employing the FB-FLPH model calibrated in this study, the interaction of the axial force and the bending moment in columns is directly taken into account, and the deterioration in the cyclic behavior of these members is implicitly considered. The superiority of the calibrated FB-FLPH modelling approach is examined compared with the cases in which conventional fi ber-based distributed plasticity and concentrated plasticity models are utilized. The effi ciency of the enumerated modelling techniques is probed when they are implemented to model the columns of a typical special moment frame in order to prove the advantage of the FB-FLPH modelling approach. 展开更多

In the current real life, systems theory is an abstract background of systems thinking,which is a part of systemic behavior. The systemic behavior is the alternative to the currently prevailing one-sidedness that puts all of humankind in danger of self-destruction due to the crucial over-sights(all the way to world wars) that unavoidably result from the current over-specialization(along with crucial, but partial insights), if the specialists fail to practice creative interdisciplinary cooperation.This contribution is a next phase of research after the contributions by Matja? Mulej, Zdenka ?enko and Viktor ?akelj(2017) and by Matja? Mulej, et al.(2013). Although the abstract background and thinking that the systemic behavior applies, are very necessary, theory and thinking are no longer enough for systems science to be a relevant science and practice helping humankind find the way out from the current blind alley and survive as a healthy civilization with a healthy social and natural environment. The suggestion in this contribution therefore reads: Let us systems and cybernetics scientists make/enable the transition to systemic behavior, which applies all the many theories, which are components in the background of systemic behavior in practice, next to each other and/or in synergy. Analysis, i.e., studying per isolated parts is too overlooking and one-sided to be enough. So is teaching on a single one out of several systems theories. Reality is too complex. Teaching is a part of this necessary effort, which must lead to a global peace and survival of humankind of today instead of the current hating the human descendants. 展开更多

Microstructural evolution and age-hardening behavior of Mg-2 Dy-6 Zn(at%)alloy during solid-solution and aging treatment were investigated.The microstructure of as-cast alloy is composed of a-Mg,Mg3 DyZn6(Ⅰ)phase,Mg3 Dy2 Zn3(W)phase,Mg(Zn,Dy)phase and a small amount of Mg0.97Zn0.03 phases.After solid-solution treatment(480℃,12 h),all the I phases and most W phases dissolve into a-Mg matrix and the remainder W phases transform into Mg(Dy,Zn)phase and MgDy3 phase.During aging treatment,I phase and small amounts of W phases co-precipitate from α-Mg matrix,respectively.The alloy exhibits a peak hardness of HV 77.5 at 200 ℃ for 8 h.The excellent age-hardening behavior of alloy is mainly attributed to the co-precipitation strengthening of I and W phases. 展开更多

The pea leafminer (Liriomyza huidobrensis) is a notorious pest of vegetables and ornamental plants worldwide. Despite a large number of studies on its biology and ecology, the courtship behavior and sexual communication of this species remain unclear. Here, we studied vibrational communication in the sexual interaction of the pea leafminer. On host plant leaves, females and males behaviorally displayed the bobbing-quivering alternation, which finally led to copulation. Moreover, records of laser vibrometry revealed threesignal duets underlying the behavioral alternation. Sexually mature males spontaneously emitted calls (MCs) to initiate the duets. The females rapidly responded to MCs by emitting replies (FRs) that are longer in duration. The FRs further triggered male replies (MRs) in their search for potential partners. Leafminer-produced vibrational signals convey efficient information to partners and generate pair formation on stretched substrates, such as plant leaves and nylon mesh, but cannot elicit responses on dense substrates, such as glass and plastic. Vibrational playbacks of both MCs and FRs can elicit replies in females and males, respectively. This study completely characterizes substrate-borne vibrational duets in a dipteran insect. The discovery of vibrational sex signals in the pea leafminer provides new insights for the development of novel approaches to control the pest and its relative species. 展开更多

健康管理干预对脑卒中高危人群行为习惯和脑卒中高危因素的影响 预览

目的探讨健康管理干预对脑卒中高危人群行为习惯和脑卒中高危因素的影响。方法选取2017年1月~2018年1月在我院住院的60例脑卒中高危患者作为研究对象,按照随机数字表法分为对照组(30例)和观察组(30例),对照组患者给予常规管理,观察组在... 目的探讨健康管理干预对脑卒中高危人群行为习惯和脑卒中高危因素的影响。方法选取2017年1月~2018年1月在我院住院的60例脑卒中高危患者作为研究对象,按照随机数字表法分为对照组(30例)和观察组(30例),对照组患者给予常规管理,观察组在对照组的基础上给予健康管理干预,治疗1年后比较两组患者的行为习惯、高危因素控制情况及临床相关指标。结果观察组患者干预后健康饮食、运动锻炼、合理生活方式的比例高于对照组,吸烟率、饮酒率低于对照组,差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05);干预后,观察组患者高血压、体重指数(BMI)、高血脂、糖尿病、Essen评分、睡眠呼吸紊乱、高凝状态的控制率均高于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05);观察组患者干预后的收缩压(SBP)、舒张压(DBP)、糖化血糖蛋白(HbA1c)、低密度脂蛋白(LDL)均低于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。结论应用健康管理对脑卒中高危人群进行干预,可有效改善患者的行为习惯,更好地控制血压、血脂、血糖水平,有助于预防脑卒中的发生,具有临床实践价值。 展开更多

Background:Visual-spatial neglect (VSN) is a neuropsychological syndrome,and right-hemisphere stroke is the most common cause.The pathogenetic mechanism of VSN remains unclear.This study aimed to investigate the behavioral and event-related potential (ERP) changes in patients with or without VSN after right-hemisphere stroke.Methods:Eleven patients with VSN with right-hemisphere stroke (VSN group) and 11 patients with non-VSN with righthemisphere stroke (non-VSN group) were recruited along with one control group of 11 age- and gender-matched healthy participants.The visual-spatial function was evaluated using behavioral tests,and ERP examinations were performed.Results:The response times in the VSN and non-VSN groups were both prolonged compared with those of normal controls (P<0.001).In response to either valid or invalid cues in the left side,the accuracy in the VSN group was lower than that in the non-VSN group (P<0.001),and the accuracy in the non-VSN group was lower than that in controls (P<0.05).The P1 latency in the VSN group was significantly longer than that in the control group (F[2,30]= 5.494,P = 0.009),and the N1 amplitude in the VSN group was significantly lower than that in the control group (F[2,30]= 4.343,P = 0.022).When responding to right targets,the lefthemisphere P300 amplitude in the VSN group was significantly lower than that in the control group (F[2,30]= 4.255,P = 0.025).With either left or right stimuli,the bilateral-hemisphere P300 latencies in the VSN and non-VSN groups were both significantly prolonged (all P<0.05),while the P300 latency did not differ significantly between the VSN and non-VSN groups (all P > 0.05).Conclusions:Visual-spatial attention function is impaired after right-hemisphere stroke,and clinicians should be aware of the subclinical VSN.Our findings provide neuroelectrophysiological evidence for the lateralization of VSN. 展开更多
