The activated carbon with high specific surface area was prepared from mesophase carbon microspheres by alkali activation method. By exploring the dynamic model change of activated carbon adsorption process, the most suitable adsorption model was found, and the adsorption principle and mechanism were discussed. The results showed that when the temperature was lower than 50℃, the adsorption followed mainly quasi secondary model;when the temperatures was above 50 ℃, the adsorption followed mainly quasi first order model. The activation energy was 25.95 kJ/mol. This indicated that the pore size of activated carbon was large, the diffusion speed was fast, and the adsorption process was controlled by the interaction between the adsorbent(phenol) and the surface of the adsorbent(activated carbon).
