Objective: To establish a high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method for simultaneously determining the contents of chlorogenic acid, vitexin, schisandrol A, schisandrin A and schisandrin B in Hugan tablets. Methods: ZORBAX SB-C18 column (4.6 mm × 150 mm, 5 μm) was used and the column temperature was 35 ℃. The mobile phase consisted of methanol and 0.2% phosphoric acid solution which were linear gradient eluting at the flow rate of 1 mL·min-1. The detection wavelengths were 340 nm from 0 to 20 minutes and 254 nm from 20 to 40 minutes. The sample size was 20 μL. Results: Chlorogenic acid, vitexin, schisandrol A, schisandrin A and schisandrin B had a good linear relation (r ≥ 0.999 9) in their respective concentration ranges. The average recoveries were in the range of 86.46%– 101.21% and the RSD were in the range of 1.51%– 2.90%(n = 6). The contents of three batches of Hugan tablets were determined, in which the content of schisandrol A was in accordance with the pharmacopoeia standard. Conclusion: The method was simple, accurate, stable and reliable, which could be used for the determination of effective components in Hugan tablets.
