Objective To investigate the ultrasonic manifestations and its pathological basis of breast carcinoma with medullary features. Methods The ultrasonic manifestations and its pathological features of 18 patients with breast carcinoma with medullary features were analyzed retrospectively. Results Ultrasonographic sonographic appearance of breast carcinoma with medullary features were as follows: sharply demarcated and low or extremely low of internal echo, no attenuation of posterior echo, rich of blood supply in the tumor. Pathological features of breast carcinoma with medullary features indicated that tumor cells grew fast in a short time and there were a large number of tumor cells and a few of interstitial cells. Conclusion Ultrasonic manifestations of breast carcinoma with medullary features can be helpful in the differentiation diagnosis of the breast carcinoma with medullary features from breast benign tumors and other type of breast carcinomas.
