In view of the weld cracking in the stamping process of a front door inner pan- el, the material and mechanical properties of the laser tailor-welded blank were presented. The metal flow model in the forming process of the different thickness tailor welded blanks was used to analyze the mechanism of drawing cracking. On this basis, the meth- ods that monitoring the quality of the weld and adjusting the resistance of ribs on the thin plate were proposed to reduce the material flow and tensile stress that perpendicular to the direction of the weld, which could balance the difference in metal flow velocity on both sides of the weld. The production showed that the cracking ratio of the products was reduced from 5.896 to 0.0696 by using this measure to modify the die, which could provide reference for the application of the laser tailor welded blank and the design of stamping die.
