A PRELIMINARY GEOCHEMICAL STUDY OF COPPER IN THE YANGTZE ESTUARY

摘要 长江口海域溶解态铜不受生物活动控制。颗粒态铜与铁、表层沉积物中铜与铁和伊利石有很好的相关性,铁是主要的控制因子。沉积物中铜主要由长江河水携带悬浮颗粒沉降而来,并受粒级影响。 Based on the data from the Sino-Ainerican Joint Investigation of Marine Sediment Dynamics during 1981, this paper is focussed on the geocheniical behaviors of dissolved copper, par-ticulate copper and the copper present in surfacial sediments. The results show: 1) Dissolved copper behaves nonconservatively during transport from the Yangtze River to the estuary area; 2) The concentration of dissolved copper is lower than the dilution line because small colloidal particles become larger in size and those able to pass through 0.4 u,rn film decrease in number; 3) The deposition rate of paniculate copper is very high in this region; 4) The concentration of copper is positively correlated with the concentration of iron in suspended solids and also with the concentrations of iron and illite in surfacial sediments; 5) Copper in the surfacial sediments is transported mainly from the Yangtze River and controlled by particle size.
